The 50/30/20 rule
The rule is a starting split of take-home pay: half for needs (housing, food, transport, insurance), 30% for chosen spending, 20% for savings. The last euro stays in savings, so the three parts add up to the total.
A high rent can take more than 50%. The rule does not fix that. It shows the gap against your real bills, which Fleuris adds up in the plan.
- Enter take-home pay for the month.
- Compare the needs share with your rent and fixed bills.
- If real needs are over 50%, do not force the budget: write the actual bills into Fleuris.
Questions
Is the 20% required?
No. It is a marker. A month with a large bill can save less, another month more.
Why do the three amounts equal income exactly?
Rounding cents stay in the savings share. No euro disappears from the total.
